S2E18 Mad Max - The Road Warrior
Thursday May 30, 2024
Thursday May 30, 2024
Although he had offers from Hollywood, George Miller couldn’t resist another trek out into the wasteland to share the next Mad Max adventure with us.
The second film takes inspiration from westerns, Akira Kurosawa, and other classic film genres as Max reluctantly partners with a settlement facing off against The Lord Humungus and his gang of leather clad marauders trying to steal their gasoline.
Mad Max 2 aka The Road Warrior is still considered one of the greatest action movies ever made. What do our hosts think? And did producer Lalo like it more than the original?

S2E17 Mad Max - Mad Max
Friday May 17, 2024
Friday May 17, 2024
It’s time for another alliterative month on Cinema on Tap: Mad Max May! With the upcoming release of Furiosa, we’re heading to the wasteland to talk about George Miller’s career-spanning franchise.
We start in 1979, with a much more grounded film compared to its successors. The original film follows Mad Max Rockatansky, a police officer, trying to keep a collapsing society afloat…before he crosses paths with the Toecutter.
How does Mad Max compare to the sequels? And, do we feel that George Miller got his career off to a hot start? Stay tuned to find out!

Friday May 03, 2024
Boston month comes to a close! Our hosts look at Boston movies from the 70s all the way to the 2020s and choose 4 (1 per decade) to put into a Boston movie flight. What Boston movie is automatically in? What is a Boston movie? Would you move to Boston? All of these questions answered here.

S2E15 Boston - Gone Baby Gone / The Town
Friday May 03, 2024
Friday May 03, 2024
We're almost at the end of our Boston month, but we've got two more movies in us, both directed by Boston's premier son - Ben Affleck. Our hosts dive into Gone Baby Gone and The Town, both bleak depictions of Boston, but both entirely Boston in their portrayal.

S2E14 Boston - Good Will Hunting (feat. Hayd and Sarcastic Sounds)
Saturday Apr 13, 2024
Saturday Apr 13, 2024
We’re sticking with Matt Damon this week on the pod as Boston Movies month goes to therapy. It’s time for Good Will Hunting.
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, the youngest winners ever, and Robin Williams won for Best Supporting Actor in what may be one of the most beloved movies we’ve ever discussed on the podcast. If you haven’t seen it before — it’s not your fault.
We’re joined by musician friends Hayd and Sarcastic Sounds (and using their studio if you’re wondering why our audio sounds so darn good!) to discuss this Boston classic. Stay tuned to hear our thoughts!

S2E13 Boston - The Departed
Saturday Apr 06, 2024
Saturday Apr 06, 2024
It’s the start of a new month on Cinema on Tap, so pahk the cah at Hahvahd yahd and get ready for Boston month! Christian is taking us on a tour of one of the great American cities through the movies, and we’re starting with a Best Picture winner: The Departed.
Martin Scorsese’s lone Oscar came from this 2006 crime thriller featuring a stacked cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Walhberg, Alec Baldwin, Vera Farmiga, and more. Some people say this film got a “makeup” Oscar for Scorsese. Some say it was a worthy win. What will our hosts think?

S2 Bonus - It Happened One Night
Friday Mar 29, 2024
Friday Mar 29, 2024
It’s a bonus episode here on Cinema on Tap, and Christian got to pick for winning our Oscar pool. Naturally, he had to go with a Best Picture winner, and he went 90 years into the past with It Happened One Night!
Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable star in the first movie to ever win the Big Five at the Oscars. It Happened One Night is considered a classic, and a proto-screwball comedy. See if our hosts think this one has aged well in honor of its 90th birthday.
Also, our hosts welcome a new producer and retire Christian's producing duties. We're happy to welcome on Lalo Madrid!

S2E12 SciFi Comedies - SciFi Comedy Grab Bag
Monday Mar 25, 2024
Monday Mar 25, 2024
It’s time for another grab bag here on Cinema on Tap! Christian and Scott will talk through some lesser known or not as well-regarded science fiction comedies and talk about why you should check them out! Or, for a couple, why you should avoid them. It’s a fun time! Plus, we discuss our plans for next week’s bonus episode.

Sunday Mar 17, 2024
The 96th Academy Awards have finally come and gone, and we follow up on our predictions. Scott lost the predictions game, but won the night, as his #1 film of 2023 collected 7 Oscars (much like his #1 film of 2022!).

S2E11 SciFi Comedies - Mars Attacks!
Sunday Mar 17, 2024
Sunday Mar 17, 2024
Sci-fi comedy month isn’t over just yet but it’s our last full review of the month. We take a turn to full blown spoof town as we talk Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks!
With a massive celebrity cast fending off an alien invasion, Mars Attacks! is the Wario to Independence Day’s Mario (they even came out in the same year). But, does Burton’s sillier send-up of 1950s sci-fi films match up to Roland Emmerich’s box office champ?
Our hosts have thoughts — one of them might even prefer this to Back to the Future. Stay tuned!
